The Thing about Jellyfish

hieee

Welcome back to Books and Tea! In this post, I will giving review on ‘The Thing about Jellyfish’ by Ali Benjamin! πŸ˜„

Author:

Ali Benjamin

Summary of the book:

After her best friend dies in a drowning accident, Suzy is convinced that the true cause of the tragedy must have been a rare jellyfish sting— things don’t just happen for no reason. Retreating into a silent world of imagination, she crafts a plan to prove her theory–even if it means traveling the globe, alone. Suzy’s achingly heartfelt journey explores life, death, the astonishing wonder of the universe…and the potential for love and hope right next door.

What I enjoyed about this book:

thumbs up
  • Suzy’s story is very neatly written, and you just want to keep flipping those pages.
  • All of the problems are well described, and it’s not too boring.
  • There are many things that may seem unexpected (in a good way!).
  • Suzy is really confident. She may seem shy sometimes, but during other times of the book, she does some things that you would never believe she’d do!

Thing I disliked about this book:

There were some places where Suzy was a little rude to her mom, but other than that, I ADORED this book! 😍

Rating:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of five stars.

Recommend?

YES! I definitely recommend The Thing about Jellyfish, it’s amazing! 🀩

I hope you enjoyed this book review! Until next time! πŸ™‚

Blended (By Sharon Draper) Book Review

trapeze hi

So, Selina recently invited me to be part of this blog, and I accepted. So I’m now part of this blog. I’m very excited to be going on this book-tacular (I couldn’t think of another word. πŸ˜‚) adventure with all of you!

My first book review for you all today is Blended, by Sharon Draper (Duh, the title!🀣). I mean, I’m obsessed with Harry Potter, but Selina just did a book review on the first book, so yeah.

let's go

What’s it About?

Blended is about a girl named Isabella who is a divorced kid. She almost never feels whole, because she has to switch from her black Dad’s house to her white Mom’s house. She has different backpacks, wallets, and pianos for each house. It basically feels like switching identities to her. And people are always asking her things like β€œWhat are you really?”. Things get even crazier when Isabella witnesses a traumatic event at school…

The Good Things About This Book

Somethings I really like about this book are:

  • Just when you think you know what’s going to happen, something else happens, and then you change your mind about what you think is going to happen.
  • This book is very inspiring.
  • The characters are describe so well.
  • Most people can relate in someway to this book.
  • It’s not boring.
  • It’s not like 3/4 of the book is just about why her parents don’t like each other.

Well, I don’t want to bore you out with things that I like about the book, so I’m moving on.πŸ˜…

The Things I Don’t Like About This Book

I really found nothing that I didn’t like about the book itself. The only thing that I didn’t like was the blurb on the back of the book. Of course, you might find a different cover, and the blurb on the back may not be the same, or the jacket may not have a blurb at all. But anyway, here is the blurb on the back of the version that I have:

Sorry if the image is too blurry! Maybe try zooming in?

I mean, I guess the blurb works, but I would’ve added in something about the things that happen at school (Read to find out!)…. maybe.

Rating

I rate this book ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5 stars. It’s just such a good book!

Recommend?

I totally recommend this book to you all. Like I literally just said, it’s so good!

But I hope you all enjoyed! Please like the post if you like it, and subscribe for more if you haven’t already! Peace out! πŸ˜‚βœŒπŸ½
